Podcasting and e-Learning

We are pleased to announce that our first e-learning course on educational podcasting is now available at our Online Learning Studio (OLS).

The OLS is our virtual learning environment (VLE), which is powered by Moodle - a free "Open Source" software package designed to help educators create effective online courses.

The first course, Podcasting Basics, has been designed as a general introduction for educators wanting to find out more about educational podcasting and disciover how podcasts can become a useful resource and support for for personalised learning. When visiting the OLS, you are granted guest access to this course and can also view some of our educator's podcast tips..

The learning objectives for the Podcasting Basics course are:
  • Gain awareness and insight into educational podcasting
  • Acquire knowledge and understanding about how to create, publish and subscribe to podcasts
  • Explore ways of evaluating and using podcasts as a curriculum resource
There are over 10 sessions in this course and the first three are already online. New sessions will be posted as soon as they are finalised over the next few weeks. Further courses are already being developed and will cover more advanced aspects of educational podcasting.

Early feedback has already suggested that particpants find the course valuable in supporting professional development for teachers and other professionals working in education and children's services.

We hope that you have a positive learning experience with the Podcasting Basics course at our Online Learning Studio.
