Group profile
Though collectively we span the globe, there are just seven of us in our "small" e-community at present - Dave, David, Hugh, Nee, Jeff, Jining and Jason. If you know of anyone else who may be interested in joining - send us a message. Located in West Yorkshire, England - Dave hosts this Wiki and produces two podcast channels. "Podcasts for Educators" features podcasts from schools and different subject areas and "RECAP Digital Radio" provides updates on UK educational news as well as items on school improvement. As the Senior Director of RECAP Limited and educational consultant, he founded the Podcast Directory for Educators in May 2005. This was the first UK podcast directory for use with children and young people and is accredited as a Curriculum Online resource in the UK. He also maintains a new blog "Anytime, Anywhere Learning" and is the programme director for the Online Learning Studio (OLS). A teacher in Scotland, David produces the Booruch podcast, which reflects on his podcasting project, reviews other educational podcasts, and discusses Web 2.0 developments and their possible use in the classroom. David is also interested in Multiple Intelligences theory and ICT - see his other project at Hillside FLaT. David uses social software with pupils who are in 'care', are socially excluded, and exhibit dysfunctional behaviours. Based in London, Hugh produces the Storynory podcast with his business partner, Matthew Lynn, and with the actress Natasha Lee Lewis. Storynory is building up an archive of classic and original audio stories for children, and will soon start adding educational pieces. Matthew and Hugh also maintain a blog called Bog Relations about everything to do with online business, especially projects that have a social element. Nee and Jeff are based in Singapore and together with Jining in Los Angeles, they produce four podcast channels: The Kedou Chronicles is an original story about a little bear and his adventures, and they hope that one day, it'll be made into an animation movie (grin!). The Tang of Poetry with accompanying comics tries to capture the rich imaginery of great Chinese poems. The Land of Hearts in an interactive podcast with links back to the website for riddles, games and puzzles that accompany each chapter of the story. Their vision is to open "little windows of the mind" for children so that they'll remain ever curious about the world, and learn through self-discovery. Jason is an ESL, computer technology, and journalism teacher for a private boarding school in Georgia, USA. His podcast channel, Owlteacher Media, seeks to both celebrate student-centered media and discuss technology integration in education. Currently, Owlteacher Media is home to several student-centered productions. Upcomming productions include vidcasts and a summer series for teachers interested in using technology to engage the new learner. |
