School Self EvaluationOverview of this project This example illustrates the way in which a Wiki-based version of the Self Evaluation Form (SEF) can be used to create a consensus about a school self-evaluation. The SEF is a document produced by leaders and managers of schools in England to provide a summary record of their own school evaluations, for use in future OFSTED inspections. Please note: The following illustrative version relates to the OFSTED criteria pre-September 2009. The sections will be updated once the final version of the OFSTED evaluation schedule is published (currently in draft as at June 2009). The school illustrated is an 11-16 community school, located in a shire county of England, the UK and the following sections are included in this example:
An educational Wiki is a flexible Web 2.0 resource which can be used to ensure an effective, collaborative and dynamic approach by members of a senior leadership team. Each member of the team can have specific lead roles and responsibilities, maintaining and updating the evaluations on a regular basis and providing "links" to the evidence base used (please note these are not included in this example). Tony Thornley has written a 50 page booklet on "Practical School Self-Evaluation for primary and secondary schools. For more information - read extracts from his publication or listen to a podcast with Tony about effective school self-evaluation.
